This course will introduce folks who are new to performance management (PM) and organizational behavior management (OBM) to some of the most critical aspects of PM practice: pinpointing and measurement. Different types of organizational pinpoints will be explored, including those for behaviors, outputs, and business results. The instructor will present examples of different types of measurement used in practice, and will share strategies that can help leaders better quantify even the most abstract performance metrics, all using established PM tools. Performance monitoring and staff observation will be discussed, along with techniques for reducing staff reactivity/resistance and increasing acceptability of measurement as part of an organization's culture. Finally, special considerations for graphing individual and group data will be shared.
